Red Hat's next Fedora version, Fedora 21, has just acquired a series of new features. According to Linux's leading technology website Phoronix,Fedora 21, the most important new change involves a new encryption policy. Fedora's Wikipedia website interprets this as "using a uniform password policy for different applications and libraries," so all applications running on a given Fedora system have the same level of encryption settings.

Other potential changes to Fedora 21 include improved management of PC/SC smart cards, making it more difficult for unauthorized users or processes to read data.

Another major set of changes includes DNF,Fedora 's yum package manager replacement. Currently, DNF is not mature enough to replace yum, but this will be implemented in Fedora 22.

The Fedora project provides two major functions for the Linux world: first, it is an end-user Linux distribution that focuses on creating components that are patent-free or patent-free. The downside is that many projects cannot be bound to Fedora by default, including many common features such as MP3 or Adobe Flash support, although they can be added manually through third-party libraries.
