Set the environment variable of Oracle10g under Windows

Windows installs Oracle10g, and every time you start the em service, that is, enter emctl start dbconsole in the cmd command line window, you always prompt "Environment variable ORACLE_SID not defined.Please define it." As shown in the following figure:

Later, referring to the Oracle official documentation, we learned that although Oracle was successfully installed, the environment variable was not defined, so every time you start em, you will be prompted to define the ORACLE_SID environment variable. The main environment variables of Oracle are ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID. Now define Oracle environment variables under Windows system. The steps are as follows:

1. Temporary definition

Enter cmd in the run, open the command line window, set the environment variable command is set, view all the system environment variables, enter set directly, set Oracle environment variables ORACLD_HOME, ORACLE_SID input, set ORACLE_HOME=C:\ Oracle\ product\ 10.2.0\ db_1 enter, set ORACLE_SID=orcl enter

Then enter with set to check, there are already definitions of ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID, but as long as you exit the command line window, the environment variable of the Oracle will be invalid, so it is called temporary definition.

2. Permanent definition

If you want to permanently define the environment variable for Oracle, you have to define it in the system variable environment. The steps are as follows:

Click OK and return to the previous window

The last point is confirmed, and the setting is complete. At this point, the environment variable setting of Oracle is permanently in effect. Starting the em service again will not prompt you that the environment variable for Oracle is not defined.
