Since windows Server 2008, the backup product of MS has been changed to WSB, which looks better than the original NTBACKUP,GUI. Some time ago, I discussed with my colleagues how to restore the WSB backup system. After testing, you need to pay attention to the following:

When backing up OS with WSB, do not store backup files on the same disk as OS, so when planning, it is best to make OS and data disk into two virtual disks.

The size of the recovered hard disk cannot be less than the size of the disk on which OS was originally installed if the disk is recovered from another machine.

The disk on which the backup is stored will not be formatted during recovery

Do not attempt to mount backup files as virtual disks under Windows, which will cause the backup to fail.

When backing up files, the standard practice is that we should choose full backup mode when only WSB is used for backup, and copy mode if there are other backup products to back up files on this server. This should correspond to the storage tag in the file attribute.

Although you choose the full backup mode, the space WSB takes up when backing up is actually incremental backup space. And double-click the backup log to see the list of files for this backup. This allows us to store multiple backup copies in limited disk space.
