Because a few years ago, the mobile company's idc provided free machines and bandwidth, so you don't have to do it for nothing. After a few years of wasted use, they got an IDC license and began to charge. When the business is good, it does not feel expensive. With the significant reduction in the number of visitors, the business revenue shrinks sharply, and it begins to be sensitive to costs.

With the accumulation of several successful proxmox super-convergence implementation and operation experience, we have the confidence to integrate the existing systems: select several large-capacity ones from the existing servers, make a super-fusion cluster, create a number of virtual machines, and migrate the business to this cluster.

The benefits of this are obvious, which are briefly summarized as follows:

1. Significantly reduce costs: from two cabinets to 3-4 servers, even if the bandwidth remains the same, the escrow fee and rental fee will be reduced several times

2. Improved availability: physical machine failure is not available, as long as the cluster itself can be maintained, the virtual machine running on the fault machine automatically drifts to the normal physical server to ensure the continuity of the business.

3. Unified management and control: access the ip of any cluster node with a browser, and after verification, proxmox super-converged resources (physical nodes, virtual machines, networks, backups, etc.) can be managed.

4. Decentralization: if there is no fixed control node, hang up some servers casually, as long as the cluster itself can maintain, the business will not stop; while other solutions with central control node, the control node will hang up, which will cause a lot of trouble

5. Online capacity expansion: no downtime and capacity can be expanded quickly.

As the project is not a business type with intensive access, after my preliminary evaluation, as long as you increase the memory to 64GB on the existing old machines and use three physical servers in advance, you will be able to carry out the current business volume. In case it is not enough, you can add nodes to expand the capacity at any time.

After everything was ready, I personally went to an IDC computer room in Jinan. When you enter the computer room, you are not allowed to bring bags, put foot covers on your feet, and stand up for work without stools.

The first afternoon to start work, the choice is proxmox ve 6, installed in the search for dhcp server step to get stuck, change the server, also does not work, try several times, did not succeed, give up, back to the hotel. Enter the computer room again the next day, make the disk of the server into a single disk r%a%i%d0 (deliberately try not to do it, during the installation process, the system will not be recognized), use the u disk made by PVE version 5.4 to boot, barrier-free, complete the installation of a system in minutes, and configure the network, so that the remote brothers can use ssh and browser to access the installed system, and feedback can be accessed and logged in normally. Continue to install the remaining two servers, confirm that the remote access is normal, and do more work until you leave Jinan. After all, there is no comfort in working in the computer room.
