Verizon Intelligent Locator is one of the latest products that can help you solve this kind of problem. It differs from other products such as Tile and Tracker in that it has its own simple processor and is not limited to Bluetooth. The two-year contract costs $100. You can't buy it without a contract. However, only the first year of activation is free, so you have to pay $3 a month after that. The deal sounds unattractive, but, hey, if you need a smart tracker, you might sign it.
