Microsoft has been notifying Windows 7 users to end support throughout January 2019. Now, with the full-screen pop-up warning at the end of the Windows 7 life cycle, the company is making its notification prompts even bigger. The full-screen notification will warn that "your Windows 7 computer is no longer supported" and will be displayed on January 15, the day after the end of support.

Microsoft will warn Windows 7 users who have not yet upgraded that their PCs are "more vulnerable to viruses and malware" due to lack of security, software updates and technical support. There are three options to turn off this message, including reminding later, learning more, or not reminding again. The full screen prompt will remain on the screen until Windows 7 users interact with it.

Windows 7 support will end on January 14, 2020, and Microsoft has been promoting Windows 10 as a major upgrade path for businesses and consumers. Earlier this year, Windows 10 overtook Windows 7 in market share, and Microsoft's latest operating system will now reach 1 billion devices next year.
