Test Project Administrator (abbreviated as TPA) is a professional test project management tool independently developed by Jingwei Hengrun, which has been widely used in more than 20 domestic vehicle factories and parts suppliers. It manages all data and documentation during testing, including requirements, use cases, samples, plans, reports, and issues. As an integrated solution of test project management, TPA pays attention to the management of test project process, and can track and cover all stages of testing effectively.

With the improvement of the electronic and intelligent degree of the automobile, a whole vehicle platform contains more and more controllers, the function of the controller is becoming more and more complex, and the testing requirements of the controller are getting higher and higher. the traditional document-based test case management method has been unable to meet the current automotive R & D testing requirements because of its low reusability, non-relevance, non-collaboration and other shortcomings.

Centralized management and collaborative work

TPA adopts the management mode of the central database, and all the test cases are stored in the central database. Users can access and check the latest status of the use cases in the database through the browser. At the same time, they can directly add or modify the data in the database, and the modified data can be stored in the database in real time. The access mode of the browser supports multiple people to operate at the same time, which avoids the shortcomings that the traditional way can not work together and the version of the use case is chaotic. Testers or developers can easily record and monitor the results of each test activity and phase, and support parallel testing and recording, thus greatly improving the testing efficiency.

Support hierarchical management of test cases

TPA manages test cases in terms of projects, and the use cases of each project are managed hierarchically through a tree structure. Users can determine the granularity of the hierarchical structure according to the test requirements. For example, the use cases of the whole vehicle can be stored according to domain-> controller-> functional levels. A clear hierarchical structure facilitates the unified management and search of use cases.

Support the separation of business logic and test data

TPA supports the use case description structure of LTC (logical test case) / CTC (specific test case), which can separate the business logic of the test case from the test data, so as to improve the utilization of use cases and scripts and reduce the maintenance cost.

TPA can automatically generate parameter table according to LTC test case description and parameter reference, and can generate CTC,LTC/CTC structure according to the configuration data of parameter table. Multiple use cases with the same logic can be simplified to a LTC plus a CTC parameter table, which effectively reduces the use case writing work. At the same time, users can add parameter table data to expand test cases conveniently.

Support the import and export of Excel test cases

Users' existing test cases accumulated through Excel support direct import into TPA system. If users are more accustomed to writing use cases with Excel, TPA also supports repeated import of Excel files. Through repeated import, the purpose of adding and modifying test cases through Excel can be achieved.

When there is no network support in the test environment, TPA software supports exporting the test cases that have been written in the system to Excel documents, which can be used for manual testing and test result recording in the netless environment.

Support use case audit mechanism

For some safety-critical use cases, in order to ensure the safety of the tested parts, superior personnel or designers are required to review the test cases, and only the approved use cases can be executed.

In response to this requirement, TPA provides a use case review mechanism, which includes two processes: use case review and application editing:

Use case audit: after the use case writing is completed, the use case writer can submit a use case review application and designate an auditor. After receiving the application, the auditor will view and review the use case, and the approved use case is not allowed to be modified by anyone. At the same time, testers are required to execute only approved test cases.

Application editing: when the approved use case needs to be modified again, it must also go through the approval process, otherwise modification is not allowed.

Convenient test case reuse

For the testing department, the accumulation of test case base is very important. A perfect use case base can not only enable new employees to quickly master product functions and business knowledge by reading use cases, but also quickly complete the writing of use cases for new projects through the reuse of test cases. TPA supports full or partial copying of one controller use case in a project to another project.

The process of test project is generally to design test cases according to test requirements, execute use cases to generate test results and reports, analyze results and reports to generate test problems, so test cases are the basis to undertake requirements, generate reports and problems.
