If you are interested in the Steam deck but have not booked yet, you may want to make a reservation as soon as possible. Valve updated the Steam Deck page to show that any bookings made now will not actually place an order until "after the third quarter of 2022", which means that you should not expect to get your own handheld game PC at least until October.

If you have any interest in the Steam deck, I suggest you pay $5 for the reservation and make sure you wait in line. Although my colleague Sean Hollister explained in his comments that Steam Deck, at least for now, is "basically an early access console", he really likes a lot of devices and hopes to solve many problems before the availability window "after Q3". If you decide not to execute the order, the deposit of $5 will be refunded.

The staff after the second quarter of 2022 have good news.

Previously, new bookings had a window "after the second quarter of 2022", so demand seemed high enough that Valve was further postponing the order schedule to this year. But for those who have already booked in the "after the second quarter of 2022" window, there is some good news: Valve is beginning to show that some people should now expect to place orders in the third quarter. Valve received the first Steam Deck order on February 25 and sent the second order email on Monday. The company plans to send a new round of order email every week, and when you receive the email, you will have 72 hours to purchase. Those with a Q1 order window will receive an email by the end of March, and starting in April, "We will start to pass through the Q2 queue in a similar manner," Valve said in February.
