Self-purchased server and cloud server

Self-purchased servers can provide more powerful hardware performance, such as CPU, memory, solid-state drives can be purchased, but need to maintain their own hardware, if the hardware failure will be more troublesome.

On the other hand, CVM does not need to pay for hardware, nor do you have to worry about problems such as hard disk damage, but it is more expensive to use highly configured hardware. If the performance requirement is not particularly high, or if you do not want to maintain the hardware yourself, you can choose the cloud server.

The commonly used CVMs are Ali Cloud and Tencent Cloud, and their stability is very good. Tencent Cloud is used as a demonstration here.

Hardware configuration

Self-built server configuration is generally not a problem, 4 core strong CPU, 16G memory, 500g SSD solid state disk is the conventional choice. The bandwidth hosted by the server is generally 10Mbps exclusive or 100Mbps shared, which is usually sufficient. If the funds are abundant, the allocation can be increased according to the actual situation without capping.

CVM requires careful calculation. The minimum configuration is 1-core CPU, 4-gigabyte memory, 100 gigabyte hard disk, and 4-5Mbps bandwidth. Due to the need to run Tomcat, MySQL, and the operating system itself, 4G memory is necessary, so those who use 2G memory can only fend for themselves. Bandwidth may be more important than hardware configuration. The bandwidth of 1Mbps can only be used for fun, which is equivalent to the speed of 128KB/S. You can imagine how slow it is to open a website. The bandwidth of 4Mbps or 5Mbps is the most cost-effective in Aliyun and Tencent Cloud. If you increase the bandwidth, the price will soar.
