Keepalivednginx+ high availability Load Balancer In Keepalived + Nginx high availability Load Balancer architecture, keepalived is responsible for implementing the High-availability (HA) function to control the front-end machine VIP(Virtual Network Address). When a device fails, the hot standby server can automatically switch the VIP over instantly to ensure high availability of services. Nginx is responsible for the applied Load Balancer policy.

Keepalived+nginx MASTER and Keepalived+nginx BACKUP bind eth0 NIC to a virtual IP address through Keepalived software. This VIP is currently bound to eth0 of Keepalived+nginx MASTER host. When Keepalived+nginx MASTER fails, Keepalived+nginx BACKUP will check the heartbeat time advert_int 1 set in/etc/Keepalived/Keepalived.conf file. If Nginx cannot be in normal status, Keepalived+nginx BACKUP will bind VIP instantly to take over Keepalived+nginx MASTER. When Keepalived+nginx MASTER is restored, Keepalived will rebind the virtual VIP address to the eth0 NIC of Keepalived+nginx MASTER according to the priority parameter.

Advantages of using this solution 1. Implement a flexible architecture, and temporarily add web servers to this architecture when pressure increases; 2. Upstream has Load Balancer capability, which can automatically determine the backend machines and automatically kick out the machines that cannot provide services normally;3. Compared with lvs, regular distribution and redirection are more flexible. Keepalived can guarantee the effectiveness of a single nginx Load Balancer and avoid single point of failure;4.
