Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

Statistics collected from more than 11 million enterprise users show that Windows 10 market share is growing and Windows 7 is becoming obsolete, but there are still a large number of users using the old operating system. The statistics are collected by the network security company Duo Security and the secure login / access solution provider and compiled in the company's annual trusted access report. Windows 7 usage is declining and Windows 10 is rising. according to Duo, more and more enterprise users using its solutions are working remotely. But for the company, this is not surprising, and it has been known from other reports that average employees are moving to telecommuting.

to the surprise of Duo experts, there was a sudden decline in Windows 7 usage from 2017 to 2018. Usage fell from 65% in 2017 to just 27% in 2018 (see chart above).

experts believe that WannaCry extortion had an impact on companies abandoning Windows 7 because 98 per cent of WannaCry victims were Windows 7 users at the time.

Windows usage decreased, macOS increased

Duo statistics also show that not all users who give up Windows 7 have switched to Windows 10. According to Duo, Windows 10 grew by just 4 per cent compared with last year.

according to its data, the vast majority of users seem to have switched to another operating system, Windows has lost market share, while macOS and iOS have gained more followers.

however, although Windows 10 accounts for only 48% of all Windows enterprise users, this means that more than half of Windows enterprise users are running the boss version of Windows, and that these devices are vulnerable to hackers and malware.

the situation of users of other operating systems is even worse.

Nonetheless, other operating systems are worse off than Windows. For example, the same Duo statistics show that in other operating systems, the proportion of users running older versions: iOS,MacOS,ChromeOS and Android are higher than Windows.

users running older versions of the operating system account for 90% of Android devices, 85% of ChromeOS, 74% of Magi MacOS, 56% of iOS.

The Duo report also contains a similar statistic that is used to analyze the percentage that browsers are kept up to date. According to Duo, Firefox Mobile is by far the browser that customers use the most older versions, with 95% of all Firefox Mobile users using obsolete versions.

the browser with the largest proportion of users using the latest version is Internet Explorer, but this statistic is not accurate because IE has not had any major updates for many years, and users have enough time to update to the latest version.
