The simple one can be understood as a path.

This path can point to either OU or CN.

Under OU is CN, and it can be understood that CN is a concrete example, such as a specific user.

So to locate an instance, the path is CN-OU-DC

You may have multiple OU, multiple DC, but will eventually locate to the highest level of DC

When this long string is put together, it is DN.

Organization sequence

The organization is in reverse order.

For example, the following DN:

CN=cwikius,ou=Users,dc=jumpcloud,dc=com

The actual search order is

DC=COM

DC=jumpcloud

OU=Users

CN=cwikius

The path at the highest level is at the end, if understood as the lookup path for the file system:

COM/jumpcloud/Users/cwikius

The final CN=cwikius can be understood as a specific file, but the file does not have a suffix.
