Flex Installation Configuration Complete Tutorial

1. Install JDK 1.5.0

1)After downloading, double-click to install it. I install it to D:\jdk1.5.0_01 here. JRE5.0 will be automatically installed during installation. You can install it to other paths. I install it to D:\jre1.5.0_010 here.

> Advanced> Environment Variables> System Variables> New (enter below)

Variable Name: J***A_HOME

Variable value: D:\jdk1.5.0_01

2, Install Tomcat 5.5.6

1)After downloading, double-click to install. Remember to check the "service" option during installation, so Tomcat can be started as a windows service. I installed Tomcat here in the D:\Flex\Tomcat5.5\directory.

2)Then you will configure http port number and management password, enter as needed, here can be blank, port default is 8080.

3)During installation, you will be asked to specify the directory of JRE, which will be detected automatically. Press the default. If it is not detected, manually enter the JRE installation directory.

4) After Tomcat installation is completed, a small icon will be generated in the status bar. If it is a green triangle, it means that the Tomcat server has been successfully started. Double-click this icon to enter the Tomcat service console, and start and stop the service with Start and Stop.

5)Type "http://localhost:8080" in your browser and if an Apache Tomcat/5.5.6 page appears, the Tomcat installation is successful.

3. Install Flex1.5

1)*** Step is to unzip, double-click the downloaded Flex-15-win.exe and select a directory to unzip, such as "Desktop."

2) Open the decompressed folder on the desktop, such as "I1103705281", enter the windows directory inside, double-click Flex.exe to install.

3)The installation interface is as shown below. Click Next. In the process, you are required to enter the serial number. If you leave it blank, it will be a 60-day trial version (there are many serial numbers on the Internet. If you can't find it, leave a message to me ~ haha). I installed Flex here in D:\Flex.

4)Here's the most important step, installing Flex into Tomcat. Go to the webapps directory under Tomcat (here I am D:\Flex\Tomcat5.5\webapps) and create two new directories, one for Flex and one for samples (note that Tomcat servers are case sensitive!).

5)Use winzip to extract Flex.war from the Flex program directory (D:\Flex in my case) to the Flex directory created in the previous step. Similarly, extract samples.war into the samples directory created in the previous step. Flex1.5 is now installed.

6)Open "http://localhost:8080/samples/" in your browser and click "Flex Explorer" in the left navigation bar. If you see a rendering, it proves that Flex Server has been installed successfully!

4. Install FlexBuilder 1.5

1)Download FlexBuilder1.5, the file name is FlexBuilder1.5Installer.exe, after installation, if there is no serial number, you can choose the 60-day trial version (find the serial number bar...).

2)After launching, you can see that the interface is very similar to Dreamweaver. *** Step 1: As with DW, define a Flex site. Select FlexSite in Create New... ", fill in the corresponding information in the pop-up site settings dialog box

3)Then you can use FlexBuilder to make your Flex site
