The difference between Analog Chip and Digital Chip

1. Analog chips are used to generate, amplify and process all kinds of analog signals, while digital analog chips are used to generate, amplify and process all kinds of digital signals.

Integrated circuits have two main advantages over discrete transistors: cost and performance. The low cost is due to the fact that the chip prints all the components as a unit through photographic lithography, rather than making only one transistor at a time. The high performance is due to the fast switching of the components, which consumes less energy because the components are small and close to each other. In 2006, the chip area ranged from a few square millimeters to 350 mm ², with up to a million transistors per mm ².

The first prototype of integrated circuits was completed by Jack Kilby in 1958 and included a bipolar transistor, three resistors and a capacitor.

According to the number of microelectronic devices integrated on a chip, integrated circuits can be divided into the following categories:

Small integrated circuit (SSI English full name is Small Scale Integration) logic gate less than 10 or transistors less than 100.

Medium-sized integrated circuits (MSI English full name is Medium Scale Integration) logic gates 111100 or transistors 1011k.

Large-scale integrated circuit (LSI English full name is Large Scale Integration) logic gate 1011k or transistor 100110k.

Very large scale integrated circuit (VLSI English full name is Very large scale integration) logic gate 100110k or transistor 10001100k.

Very large scale integrated circuit (ULSI English full name is Ultra Large Scale Integration) logic gate 10001m or transistor 10000110m.

GLSI (English full name Giga Scale Integration) has more than 1000001 logic gates or more than 10000001 transistors.
