You can forgive me for confusing OtterBox's new OtterSpot with a bunch of restaurant buzzers, which are the vibrating devices you're going to take out. But OtterSpot is more exciting than this. This is a wireless charging system. Each layer of OtterSpot is a portable 5000mAh battery with its own Qi charging coil and supports USB-C wired charging.

The OtterSpot costs $129.99 and comes with a rechargeable base and a wireless rechargeable battery. The price of each extra battery is $69.95, and OtterBox says the 36W dock can charge two additional batteries (a total of three OtterSpots) on which the phone resides. A spokesman for OtterBox told The Verge that the system can actually handle up to four stackable batteries, but the charging speed will be reduced.

Wireless charging is more interesting because many popular phone models support Qi charging, such as iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S10, Google Pixel 3, LG G8 ThinQ and so on. However, since most chargers need wall adapters to get the fastest charging speed, most people only do this at home or office. OtterSpot is designed to solve this problem by allowing each battery to be charged at a speed of 10W if your device supports it.

With the wired USB-C PD portable battery and the correct cable, you can save a lot of money and get faster charging speed. But you'll miss out on OtterSpot's wireless charging function. Its ultra-thin discus-shaped design seems to fit more easily into the bag than a large rectangular battery.
