Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--
Founded in November 2012, ETSI NFV ISG (Industry Specification Group) is responsible for the standards related to NFV. Since its inception, it has issued more than 100 documents, more than 300 members and 38 operators, including China Mobile. NFV ISG is divided into six working groups (TST,SOL,REL,IFA,EVE,SEC) according to the different contents of the work.
NFV ISG advances its work in a two-year phase (2-year phases). The documents published in the first phase (2013-2014) are considered to be pre-standard studies, sometimes mistakenly referred to as "Release 1". Two years later, in 2014, the NFV ISG community received unprecedented attention and decided to develop standards and specifications. The subsequent published standards are called "Release 2" and "Release 3". The Release 2 documentation ended in the third quarter of 2016, while work on Release 3 began.
The first important milestone of the ISG was the release of five documents in 2013, covering user scenarios (document NFV001), virtualization requirements (document NFV004), structural framework (document NFV002), and terminology (document NFV003). The fifth document defines the framework (NFV-PER002) as a key aspect of the collaborative public presentation PoC platform. In 2014, NFV ISG accelerated its pace and released 11 more documents.
The NFV structural framework defines each functional block and the main reference points between these functional blocks. These functional blocks are:
Virtual network function (VNF): in traditional non-virtual networks, the virtualization of a network function, such as EPC,MMEPGW,RGW,DHCP, etc.
L management element (EM): manages one or more VNF.
L NFV infrastructure (NFVI), including hardware and virtual resources and virtualization layer: all hardware and software components used to build an environment for VNF deployment, management, and operation.
L OSS/BSS: operator's operation management and business support system.
L MANO:NVF management and orchestration system. It includes NFV choreographer (NFVO), VNF Manager (VNFM), and Virtual Infrastructure Manager (VIM).
2015-2016 is the second working stage of NFV ISG. The document released during this phase is called "Release 2" as part of the second phase, and NVF ISG defines the functional requirements for VIM,VNFM and NFVO, as well as the requirements for reference points. In addition, a series of specifications for requirements, interfaces, and information models are defined, with excerpts as follows:
Management of virtualized resources (IFA 005, IFA 006, and IFA 010)
Virtualized resources information management (IFA 005, IFA 006, and IFA 010)
Fault and performance management of virtualised resources (IFA 005, IFA 006, and IFA 010)

2017-2018 is the third phase of the work. The work of "Release 3 Definition" will be announced in the coming months, according to its website. Some of the ongoing and independent releases include:
