Open the Linux version of Sogou Input's official website http://pinyin.sogou.com/linux/?r=pinyin, and download the version you need. Choose the 64-bit version here.

Under Ubuntu14.01, you can directly click the downloaded file to go to the software center to install (the picture here is already installed, and follow the prompts of Ubuntu if not installed).

The next step is to type im-config in the terminal, and a dialog box appears, click OK, there is a dialog box, click Yes, and you will see the following dialog box. If it is fcitx, don't worry about it, just close it; if not, change the ibus above to fcitx. Just click OK. Another dialog box will appear, followed by OK, and finally restart the computer.

After that, enter: fcitx-config-gtk3 in the terminal and the dialog box appears as follows. Click the (+) button in the lower left corner of the dialog box, and another dialog box pops up as shown in the image above. Then, cancel Only Show Current Language (it's important, otherwise you can't find the newly installed Sogou Input!) finally, type sogou in the input box, select and click OK. After you add it, put it at the bottom of the list, note that it is at the bottom! Then the default input method is Sogou Input.
