VSAN Requirements:

At least 3 vSphere ESXi hosts

Each host needs at least one SSD and one disk (at least 3 hosts have this configuration) for VSAN data storage

3. Each host must have at least one gigabit network card, and 10 gigabit is recommended. For gigabit, it is recommended that one gigabit port be dedicated to VSAN.

4. Minimum 6GB memory per host

Experimental procedure:

1. Install 3 ESXI on the physical server. The installation process is omitted. Note that hardware virtualization is turned on.

After 2 or 3 ESXI installations are completed, a new data center will be built to join the host.

3. Since the test environment does not have SSD, use the following command to simulate the disk as SSD as VSAN cache.

esxcli storage nmp satp rule add --satp VMW_SATP_LOCAL --device mpx.vmhba1:C0:T1:L0 --option=enable_ssd

esxcli storage core claiming reclaim -d mpx.vmhba1:C0:T1:L0

4. Configure VSAN network, build new distributed switches, or use standard switches.

5. Distribute the distributed switch uplink

6. Create a VSAN network port group

7. Add a VSA network for each host

8. Add ESXI management network port group

Migrate ESXI VMKernel from standard switch to distributed switch

10. Migrating ESXI physical ports to distributed switches

11. Delete existing standard switches

12. Create a VSAN cluster

13. Join hosts to VSAN clusters

14. Declared Disk

15. Create a VSAN storage policy
