SPC test benchmark

The Storage performance Council (SPC) provides storage manufacturers and consumers with a way to accurately evaluate and compare the performance, cost performance, and energy consumption of storage products.

The Storage performance Council (SPC), established in 1998, is a non-profit organization responsible for:

Define, standardize, and promote industry-leading storage performance standards.

Provide objective and real storage performance data for storage developers and end users / consumers.

SPC standard

SPC Benchmark 1 (SPC-1)

SPC Benchmark 2 (SPC-2)

These two standards include: component level standards and energy consumption standards.

SPC-1

SPC-1 measures the storage performance of critical applications for a single load.

The key application of SPC-1 is characterized by its need for data query and update, which will produce a large number of random IO.

Typical SPC-1 key applications include: OLTP, database, and mail server applications.

Spc-2

SPC-2 is suitable for three business types and is used to measure the performance of sub-storage systems for critical applications. These key applications carry out large-scale sequential data migration.

SPC-2 service type:

SPC component level standard

Provide objective and real storage component-level performance testing and comparison. Applicable storage components include storage hard drives (traditional hard drives and solid state drives), host bus adapters (HBA), controllers, small storage subsystems, storage software, etc.

The performance tests and comparisons provided by SPC-1 and SPC-2 are also suitable for large, complex storage configurations.

SPC Benchmark 1C (SPC-1C)

SPC-1C is based on SPC-1 standard and is suitable for single SPC-1 service type.

SPC Benchmark 2C (SPC-2C)

SPC-2C is based on the SPC-2 standard and is suitable for three SPC-2 service types.

SPC-1C and SPC-2C are suitable for performance testing and comparison of the following storage components:

Storage hard disk (traditional hard disk cartridge solid state hard drive)

HBA, controller

Small storage subsystem (single box)

Processors installed on each component
