What does a router do?

Routers are basically used to share network connections with multiple devices (this is a simple description, of course). Today's routers are mostly Wi-Fi routers, which create a Wi-Fi network, and multiple devices can connect to this Wi-Fi network. The combination of router and cat

Now many Internet service providers offer boxes that combine modems and routers with electrical appliances and software to function as modems and routers at the same time. On the one hand, these boxes act as modems to communicate with your Internet service provider (Livebox is to use Orange's network service, BBox is to use Bouygues's home service), and on the other hand, they act as routers to create a home Wi-Fi network.

Buying your own modem is an easy way to save money on Internet access. Please check the monthly bill from your Internet service provider. You may see an item called "equipment rental" or "modem rental fee", which will probably cost a lot of money.

Instead of renting a modem from your Internet service provider, you can buy your own cat and tie it up. You can then return the original modem to your Internet service provider and remove the rental fee from your monthly bill.
