Has the Apple Lightning Port been cancelled (why did Apple delete the Lightning Port? What does this mean for Android phones? )

Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

Whether you love Apple or hate Apple, you can't deny that the company's influence on the smartphone market is enormous. The best examples include removing the most popular headphone jacks and slotted displays, while the popular AirPods have been shamelessly copied many times by older brands.

There was a message the other day about Apple's iPhone 2021 describing another trend Apple may be about to launch. The report comes from a credible source saying Apple plans to remove the Lighting port from its most expensive iPhone models this year. In 2021, cheaper iPhones will still come with one.

But in 2021, the Lightning port on top iPhones won't be replaced by USB Type C, which is probably what many people want. According to sources, there are plans to launch an iPhone with a "full wireless experience." The iPhone reportedly doesn't have a charging/data port at all.

This isn't the first time we've heard of portless phones. Manufacturers Meizu and Oppo even showed off prototypes of the device, even showing off prototypes of the device, but no products have yet entered the market. However, considering this move, Apple is another matter.

Why does Apple want to kill this port?

We're all familiar with Apple's pursuit of stylish design, but that's not the main reason to remove Lightning ports. In my own words, Apple is a company that believes in a wireless future. Discarding connectors may be part of a transition that means taking a company's products and the industry as a whole into the next decade.

In addition to conforming to Apple's long-held philosophy, an all-wireless iPhone without a connector would last longer. It should be easier to prevent water damage. Damaged ports and frayed charging cables may have passed through. Equally important, removing the port will free up valuable space for the phone to store larger batteries, extra cameras or 5G antennas.

But if the user is at the center of what the company does, then this change is bound to lead to a better user experience all the time. This will mean better alternatives for all the features that come with the Lightning port: charging, data transfer, and connectivity to headphones and accessories.

Of course, anyone who wants to listen to music on the road has Apple AirPods. Some users will always miss wired headphones, but if Apple bundles a pair of AirPods with a smartphone (as some rumors suggest), the number of these users will be greatly reduced.

You can now choose between AirPods and AirPods Pro!

Data transmission is also important. Syncing between Apple devices and the cloud is convenient and works seamlessly. But if you want the cable to disappear, users who use an iPhone instead of a MacBook or iMac may need Apple's special attention. Cupertino may already be working on custom solutions.

Wireless charging has been around for years, but current implementations have big problems. When your device is charged using a wireless charger, it is almost unusable. Sure, you can view notifications and even scroll through feeds, but that's not a good user experience. Now, by 2021, battery life will definitely improve. Apple probably thinks that whatever you do with your iPhone during the day, charging it overnight is enough. Perhaps it is developing a technology that not only charges wirelessly, but also contactless charging. However, due to the inefficiency of this process, it will be difficult to see a mobile phone that can be charged remotely in the next decade.

Invisible ports instead of no ports?

While there may not be a port into which cables can be plugged, that doesn't mean there aren't other services that can implement the functionality of Lightning ports. Instead, many of the pins are cleverly hidden in the iPhone's frame, and their connectors are magnetically connected, just as the keyboard connects to the iPad Pro or Apple Pencil sticks to the side of the tablet and charges it. Wireless is one thing, though you may never have heard of it.

An "invisible" port solution would have two advantages: the advantage of a portless design and the utility of wired connectivity. For some apps, you just can't get WiFi, at least for now and in 2021.

Apple doesn't want to annoy all the professionals who use its products, giving the brand a stylish and creative vibe. Therefore, a viable alternative to lightning ports is provided.

Requires zero-latency input, which musicians cannot obtain over wireless connections. Photographers need a place to insert SD card readers. External hard drives are everywhere because a large video file has been acquired. Mobile power is another heavy burden for users.

Whatever the specific solution, one thing is certain: Apple is sure to make a splash in the smartphone industry.

There may be another domino effect.

After the new portless iPhone is released, R & D teams around the world will begin to overhaul it. From the inside out, everything from hardware and software to new portless experiences will be analyzed. Soon, the concept of an internal replacement will be created.

In a few months, when Apple's financial reports show no significant drop in sales numbers (because, to be honest, there may not be numbers), executives from competing brands will also seriously consider releasing portless phones. After all, Samsung, Huawei and other companies release dozens of mobile phones every year. One of them has no ports, so it's not a big risk.

Here's the tricky part: removing ports is easy, but replacing ports is hard. Unlike Apple, which has a complete ecosystem of devices and software, other smartphone makers typically need to partner with many companies to develop products. The software they get from Google and most people.

A few chips from Qualcomm.

If Android users want a viable alternative to USB Type-C ports, they must set up excellent

Coordination. The process of creating a thoughtful alternative to Apple's solution can be slow and fraught with obstacles.

As a result, we may see three camps among Android smartphone makers:

Camp 1: Apple did it, we're doing it!

No doubt there will be companies eager to emulate Apple without proper planning and R & D. Their users are likely to be half-baked, which leads to more unsolvable problems. Some of the larger manufacturers may release portless phones to test the importance of user reactions and thus put down their feet.

Camp 2: We'll do it when we're ready.

A sensible solution to this problem. Make sure you don't sacrifice functionality first and then implement it into the product when you have mature enough technology. Technically, of course, it's still following Apple, but at least (correctly) it's doing it right.

Camp 3: We didn't do that!

Some companies will simply ignore what Apple is doing and proceed as planned. Of course, when portless eventually becomes standard, they will adopt it too, but at that point it's not really something to follow Apple on.

Hopefully, whatever happens, we don't have to go through yet another set of ads mocking Apple, but just to get these companies to emulate these companies in a few years and discretely remove the aforementioned ads from YouTube (I'm looking for something on your side, Samsung!).
