Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

In our daily operation and maintenance, the dfs of windows is likely to be used as file management in the enterprise. in the replication process of using dfs, the initial replication of each replication folder will have a master member and one or more downstream members. When the initial replication is established, the file priority of the default master member is higher than that of the downstream member, that is to say, when I have two servers An and B, An is the primary member and B is the downstream member. If there are the same files in An and B, A's files will overwrite B's files, even if the files on B are up-to-date and A's files are old During the initial replication between An as the primary member and B, the file of A will overwrite the file of B. when the initial replication is completed, the role of the master member will be automatically cancelled, and all member servers have the same priority. Any member server that modifies or establishes files will be synchronized to other member servers of the replication group.

When we establish a replication relationship between the file servers, how can we tell which server used to be the primary member? We can log in to each server, open the event manager, and search the DFSR log for an EventID of 4112 to find out who is the main member server of the replication group, as shown in the following figure

In addition, how do we confirm that the initial replication is complete? There are two ways:

1. We can search for log EventID4104 in the downstream server, as shown in the following figure

two。 We can check the replication status with the Powershell command in the downstream server.

Get-WmiObject-Namespace "root\ microsoftdfs"-Query "select * from dfsrreplicatedfolderinfo"

You can see the value of state. State has several states. Usually, the status after initialization and replication is 4, and the status in progress is 2.

0: Uninitialized

1: Initialized

2: Initial Sync

3: Auto Recovery

4: Normal

5: In Error
