The Fitbit is one of Apple's biggest competitors in the smartwatch market, and devices such as the Versa 2 are excellent alternatives to the Apple Watch.

While Fitbit's wearables have features that Apple Watch doesn't have, the same thing will happen the other way around, because Fitbit doesn't add the health features that many buyers consider indispensable to the new generation of smartwatches.

One of them is atrial fibrillation detection, which Apple added in Apple Watch Series 4. So far, this feature has helped many people detect possible heart attacks before it's too late.

Next year, the first batch of Fitbit models equipped with Afib testing function

The ECG feature on Apple Watch made its debut in the United States, but now it can be used in most markets where the device can be purchased.

Now, thanks to its partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb-Pfizer Alliance, Fitbit aims to take a similar approach and eventually bring AFib testing technology to devices produced by Fitbit.

Details are not yet available, but the first Fitbit models with this feature are expected to be launched sometime next year. Needless to say, AFib detection will not be enabled on older models because this feature requires dedicated hardware, which is not available on devices currently on the market.
