LG is likely to lose about $29.36 million in the fourth quarter, the biggest loss in the last quarter of the year since 2010, according to Reuters. The period from October to December is usually marked by the release of smartphones during the holidays and high sales.

LG said its revenue was likely to grow 1.5% this quarter, while some analysts had expected a loss in the fourth quarter due to low sales of high-end LG G5 smartphones and flat shipments of low-end products. LG will release detailed results in late January.

LG hopes the high-end V20 smartphone will reduce the company's losses during the holiday season and even hit record sales, but smartphones seem to have failed to meet their goals. The V20 competes with other advanced smartphones such as Pixel, Pixel XL and even the latest iPhone.

LG's mobile division is now looking to the future and is committed to developing follow-up products to the G5. The company seems to have learned its lesson and instead of promoting modular design on the G6, it focuses on beauty and ease of use.

Company officials said recently that the phone will arrive soon, possibly during the MWC 2017 in February. This will give the G6 plenty of time to take advantage of the market before the release of Galaxy S8 in April.

Little is known about the G6, except that the device may have a 5.3-inch display, a USB Type-C port and a 3D glass back cover. It will also be one of the first smartphones to run Qualcomm's latest processor Snapdragon 835.
