The Spry function is integrated into Dreamweaver CS3. We all know that Spry has the function of dealing with XML data, but the detailed area function of Spry seems to be very rare.

The Spry detail area is somewhat similar to the function of the news list page and the main detail page in the news system. For example, when we watch the news, there is a page that only displays the headlines of all the news. When you are interested in the title, you can click the title to open a new web page, and you can see all the contents of the news. Then the page that displays a list of all headlines is called the "home page", while the page that displays specific news content is called the "detail page".

Obviously, the main detail page must be at least two pages. The Spry details we use can be displayed on a web page and are not refreshed.

First, create a new web page and bind the Spry XML dataset

Open the insert panel in the web page, and click the Spry XML dataset under the Spry tab

Second, select the XML data source

The [Spry XML dataset] dialog box pops up, and the [XML source] can be XML data in the local directory or cross-domain remote XML data.

Click the get Schema button and select the valuable repeating elements in the XML data in the Row elements list box. Here is the selected "item" element (the sign in the upper right corner of the flag indicates multiple loops).

P.S if you create a pure XML data aggregation page, you can also select disable XML data caching and choose the time to automatically refresh the data to automatically get remote data synchronization.

Third, insert the Spry table and display the Spry XML data on the page

Click the Spry button under the Spry tab of the insert panel, and delete the columns that do not need to be displayed in the pop-up dialog box.

It is important to make sure that the "update" detail area will be used when you click the row.

[OK] insert the Spry table, prompting you to insert the Spry area. Because all Spry XML data must be displayed in the Spry area.

Fourth, insert the Spry detail area

First, after the mouse cursor hovers over the Spry table that has been inserted into the page, continue to click the Spry area button under the [Spry] tab of the insert panel.

The [type] in the pop-up dialog box must be selected as "detail area" to indicate that it is currently a Spry detail region.

Fifth, insert "details" into the Spry detail area

The mouse cursor hovers over the Spry detail area, open the bindings panel, and select the "description" element to insert into the Spry detail area.

Saving the web page will prompt us to save the Spry effect file, and remember to upload it with these files when uploading.

Sixth, preview effect

It is good to display remote XML data across domains and click on each row header to open the view on the current page without refreshing.
