HBase architecture is a Master with multiple RegionServer,Master responsible for maintaining Region and other work, but client access to Hbase does not need to go through Master. ZK monitors the election Master to ensure that the cluster always has an available Master, that is, access to the Master requires ZK. When the ZK finds that the Master is dead, it will elect a new Master from other machines to provide services.

Zookeeper action

Through the election, it is guaranteed that at any time, only one master,Master and RegionServers in the cluster will register with ZooKeeper when it starts.

Store the addressing entry for all Region

Monitor the online and offline information of Region server in real time. And notify Master in real time.

Store schema and Table metadata for HBase

By default, HBase manages ZooKeeper instances, such as starting or stopping ZooKeeper

The introduction of Zookeeper makes Master no longer a single point of failure.
