Jack Ma teaches you to understand "Industrial 4.0" in a second.

What is Industrial 4.0? Various Internet bigwigs and related experts and scholars have different opinions, and China, Germany and the United States have different interpretations of "Industrial 4.0", and some of them even make long speeches and are confused by editors.

But in March 15, Jack Ma said at the IT Fair in Hanover, Germany, a concise explanation of what Industrial 4.0 is: "in the future world, all the manufacturers of the machines they produce, these machines not only produce products, they must speak, they must think. Machines are no longer driven by oil and electricity, they are supported by data. In the future world, companies will no longer focus on scale, standardization and power, but on flexibility, agility, personalization and user-friendliness. "

Industry 4.0 is coming, manufacturers are ready to go.

Intelligent manufacturing is the core of Industrial 4.0. It is very important for the manufacturing industry to improve the level of intelligence, to establish intelligent engineering with adaptability, resource efficiency and genetic engineering, and to integrate customers and business partners in business processes and value processes. Its technical basis is the network entity system and the Internet of things.

However, for manufacturers who want to embark on the journey of Industrial 4.0, they face two common problems:

1. Industry 4.0 covers a wide range of topics, but many manufacturers find it difficult to develop a comprehensive strategy or simply determine where to start. Some manufacturers believe that the first step should be to establish the Internet of things (IoT), connect digitally licensed devices together, and then analyze the expanded data sets. Although connecting smart devices, collecting all new data and using analytical tools to filter data are the most basic requirements, the use of these technologies alone does not provide any value. Although Industrial 4.0 depends on technological innovation, its advantages must be realized by manufacturers through business innovation.

Because of the hype about "Industrial 4.0", it is difficult to find an accurate set of information about each technology to understand the maturity of the technology (for example, machine learning is more important than block chains), the costs, risks, and expertise required to implement the technology, and perhaps most importantly, understand the business use cases that can produce benefits.

It is estimated that by 2020, the global connected devices will reach 28 billion. Industry 4.0 is almost ubiquitous and cannot be ignored, and the debate about the technology and potential benefits of Industry 4.0 continues to heat up.

Improving the implementation capacity will not only have a positive impact on the core of the transformation of the manufacturing industry at all operational levels, but also affect the whole scope of the manufacturing supply chain. There is no doubt that "Industrial 4.0" is bound to come, but the data show that only 15% of the companies have systematically implemented "Industrial 4.0", and only 16% of the companies have formulated a comprehensive development strategy.

Industry 4.0 is so hot that many enterprises may pay more attention to various emerging technologies, while ignoring the transformation of manufacturing solutions such as ERP and related business processes and practices is imperative. Manufacturers should consider how "Industrial 4.0" accelerates existing processes and tools rather than affecting their current speed, so as to realize the advantages of "Industrial 4.0". The success of Industrial 4.0 depends on smart adoption, a more integrated core system, and a commitment to change and new thinking.

As a manufacturer, are you ready for Industrial 4.0?
