When you try to set up a new Exchange mailbox for a user, you may receive the following error message. The basics of this case, the user mailbox was created on Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2, the Outlook 2010 client ran on the Windows 7 system, and the new Outlook Anywhere profile was configured, and I added this "test" user account several times on the same computer. From the error prompt, it is obvious that there is a problem with the mailbox account.

"the action cannot be completed. The name cannot match the name in the address list."

According to the Microsoft vendor, there are several reasons that may cause this error. " When a user account is not associated with a mailbox or when it has been manually configured to hide from the global address list. Problems such as the lack of Active Directory permissions on some objects or the Exchange recipient update service are common causes of problems. In addition to the above errors, the end user may not be able to successfully perform user name detection, create a MAPI profile, or connect to the Exchange server "

In my case, the user account is hidden, so let's test and verify it.

SOLUTION # 1

If your user mailbox is hidden from other Exchange users, this solution applies only to you.

1. Go to the Exchange Central Administration-> recipient-> mailbox and find the user.

two。 Double-click the user account and clear the hide from address list box.

3. Create a user profile in Outlook and hide the user account before you can log in successfully. The account should now work properly. If you need to add this user account in a different location in the future, use the same technique.

SOLUTION # 2

The first thing to do is to make sure that the user's mailbox exists. As far as I'm concerned, I already use this "Test" user account on another computer, and of course, I confirm that the account exists and matches the name I entered. To confirm that the account exists and that there is a mailbox on the Exchange server, follow these steps.

1. On Exchange Server 2013, click start, run, type ADSIEdit.msc, and press Enter.

two。 Right-click ADSI to edit and connect to the domain name naming context.

3. Go to the OU where the user account is located, then locate the folder (for example, CN = Client TEST) and find the user whose profile does not have any problems.

4. Right-click the folder (for example, CN = Client TEST) and select Properties.

5. Find the property showInAddressBook, as shown below

6. Double-click the property to edit the multi-valued string. You will notice two entries.

7. It takes some patience to do this step. Don't worry. Select one of the two entries, copy this text, and paste it into notepad, because you copied this value to the account in question. Click cancel after copying the text to notepad

8. Go back and re-edit the multi-valued string, this time repeating the above steps for the second entry. Click cancel after copying the text to notepad

9. Click cancel again to exit the user account properties window. I hope you haven't made any changes to the properties of this user account.

10. Now find the OU where the user account with the problem is located.

11. Locate the user account folder in OU (for example, CN = TestUser), right-click the folder and select Properties.

twelve。 Locate the property showInAddressBook. Note that there is no value set for the user, which is why Outlook cannot find the user account.

13. Double-click the property showInAddressBook

14. In the value box to be added, the words "CN = all users, CN = all address lists, CN = address list container, CN =." The value at the beginning, and then click add.

15. In the value box to add, enter "CN = default global address list, CN = all global address lists, CN =." The value at the beginning, and then click add.

16. Before clicking OK, your screen should look similar to the following screenshot.

17. Click OK twice, and then close the ADSI editing console.

18. Try to create the user's Outlook profile again. I hope you can add the user's mailbox without any problems this time. If you are still unable to add a user mailbox in Outlook and the account is hidden from the address list, try unhiding the account from the address list, re-adding the user profile in Outlook, and then hiding the account again.
