As the new year approaches, perhaps make a new year's resolution to write a book, or at least an e-book, on agile software development in 2012 to help more people understand agile and play with software development. The tentative title is Playing Software Development with Agile. If you have a better idea, you're welcome to suggest it.

It doesn't really matter whether you play agile or not. What really matters is how you play software development. As a software developer practitioner, my career has been connected with software development, thinking and practicing various software development methods, hoping to achieve continuous success in software development. The goal of this book is to take the opportunity to summarize your own knowledge and experience in software development to help yourself and others get better and better on the road to software development. In September 2011, I chatted with @Thinker Jiang Zhihui and @ I am Qinggengyu in Beijing. Now there are a large number of software developers in China who have been working for more than 10 years. They have accumulated considerable experience in the field of software development. We should build up the community, precipitate and promote the practice of methods suitable for ourselves, rather than blindly copying them. However, the Agile Manifesto says well,"We are always looking for better software development methods in practice, helping others as well. "This organically links Agile and software development, and we've been looking for ways to effectively fit into the Agile framework without having to invent the wheel ourselves.

Of course, Agile is already popular and doesn't need to be popularized. Agility, however, is far harder than it looks, and many people get hurt. This has a lot to do with agility itself and practitioners paying too much attention to actual combat and relatively lacking theoretical guidance. Most people know what they are, but they don't know why. They copy blindly and are agile for their own sake. Winners don't know why they succeed, and losers don't know why they fail. He responded to a famous online saying,[My success cannot be copied]. How to make success replicable is Agile's biggest urgent problem.

These are the two main problems this book seeks to solve, first, making software development better, and second, making Agile replicable.

This book consists of two main parts, the first part is understanding Agile, and the second part is implementing Agile. The first part of Dexterity Interpretation will be divided into the Magic Tool Chapter, the Magic Tool Chapter, the Heaven and Earth Chapter, and the Stone of Other Mountains Chapter. First, the article on tools and magic will start from the most basic agile practice, continuously abstract commonalities, and find out what problems agile can help us solve. This is the process of enlightenment. Then, the article on tools and magic will start from the essential characteristics of software development, and continuously decompose and elaborate, so that we can understand why practice should do this. This is the process of theory guiding practice. Then there is the Heaven and Earth chapter. Agility cannot exist independently. Culture, people, management, environment, etc. all have various influences on Agility. Understanding these influences is very important for Agility to be replicated. Finally, there is the Stone from Other Mountains chapter. The theory part of Stone from Other Mountains will include some theories behind Agility. The essay part of Stone from Other Mountains will include various insights about Agility. The second part of agile implementation will be composed of implementation methods and theory and case analysis. In the implementation methods and theory, we will analyze and summarize the correct and wrong implementation methods and theories in agile implementation. The case analysis is very direct, that is, actual case analysis. (Some friends said: The implementation method of agile part is far from the theory and case analysis, and the artistic conception of the previous Dao magic tool world. I also think so, but I haven't found a good name for the time being. Friends are welcome to put forward better suggestions. Thank you very much.)

The original origin of this book's ideological system comes from @Thinker Jiang Zhihui's Tao magic tool ideological system, and it has been expanded and developed on this basis. Heaven and earth is the general term for our environment. We are in heaven and earth. Heaven and earth can also be called nature. Tao is the way of heaven, the so-called Tao of heaven and earth, Tao is the operation law of heaven and earth, but also our understanding of the operation law of heaven and earth. Law is the way we deal with it. Law has universality and universality. What conforms to heaven is good law, and what violates heaven is evil law. When the law is applied to practice, the technique is obtained. Compared with the law, the technique has pertinence. The original refers to a material or tangible tool, and can also refer to specific, smaller practices. Art can be generalized as a combination of devices, and devices can be generalized as a part of art.

Dao, magic, tools, heaven and earth formed a cognitive cycle, from tools to Dao, using Dao to control tools, and Dao to be natural.

The two big questions this book tries to solve correspond directly to two main audiences. One is software developers and software development managers who already have some experience in the software development field and who are currently facing the problem of how to move up the ladder. The other is Agile enthusiasts or practitioners, both successful and unsuccessful, who believe this book will deepen their understanding of Agile and make success more replicable.
