First prepare a few installation files

I have 16 gigabytes of memory, so I allocate 4G, so it runs faster. In practice, 2G is enough, but more memory has the advantage.

Network card setting: it is recommended to use NAT mode, my network card is to set VMnet1 to NAT network card. In this way, under different external network conditions, the virtual machine can still access the network normally, as well as the later upgrade unetlab and access simulator web interface address.

My VMnet1 network card address is set to the left, and the right is the address of the wireless network card.

Start the virtual machine and start the automatic installation. It will take about a few minutes, and then go to the initial interface. It is best for everyone to make a snapshot at each stage, so that you can roll back and continue to struggle when there is a problem later.

The address shown below is only an address initially customized by the system, which will be modified later in the installation wizard before the virtual machine can access the Internet and be updated to 1.0.0-12.

Note here, because it has been set to NAT before, it can be set to DHCP here, because if you choose static, the address will be fixed, and if you encounter that you cannot communicate with the public network, it should be difficult to change the ip address for students who do not have a basic linux.

If the above operations are set up, the system will restart automatically, and the simulator address will be obtained from the VMnet1 network segment through DHCP.

Since version 1.0.0-8 is not easy to connect, versions after 1.0.0-10 can be directly between devices like GNS3, and then start the upgrade operation by clicking on the direct connection.

It is necessary to ensure that the virtual machine and the external network are connected in order to upgrade successfully. I will post my network configuration again. At this step, the virtual machine is often unable to connect to the public network. I will solve the problem by rebooting the ping gateway and ping public network address to test connectivity and update immediately. I don't know exactly why. I asked a friend who knows linux and said that this simulator uses the linux kernel, which is a little different from the general linux system.

Due to the need for update, some resources are on the official website of ubuntu, but some domestic network access is not very good, so you can update the source in the virtual machine and direct to the domestic mirror station to speed up the update.
