Allegro16.6 has been able to import and export 3dstp models since hotfix6. I don't know if my friends who like to try something fresh have used it. I'll just talk about how to do it.

First of all, you need to have an packaging library and a 3D model library, and the way to do it once and for all is to allocate it directly in the packaging library, so that you will have a 3D model when you use the package later. Packaging library needs to be built on its own, general 3D models can be downloaded online, can also be built on their own, for some individual do not have to build their own, the following officially explain the method of operation.

First and foremost, specify the library path, as shown in figure 1 below

This is the most basic allegro operation, people who have used it should know, I will not elaborate, then open a package file to assign the stp model, as shown in figure 2

Find the steppackagemapping menu item under the setup menu, click Open, and the interface shown in figure 3 appears.

Draw the red box part is the available 3D model, find here you encapsulate the corresponding 3D model, I use QFP176 here, so the 3D model will find the corresponding QFP176, after the selection of the right preview box will show the mapping between 3D and plane packaging, you can adjust the value in the mapstepmodel (as shown in figure 4) so that the 3D model and packaging to achieve the appropriate match.

In the process of adjustment, you can see different perspectives by adjusting the view below the preview box to see if the fit is in place. After adjusting, save and close, open the 3D view and view the effect directly, as shown in figure 5.

In the future, there will be 3D properties when calling the wrapper in the wrapper library, and finally present a finished PCB with 3D, as shown in figure 6 (3D view in Allegro) and figure 7 (view of the exported stp in PTC).
