Preface

Doing a good job of daily inspection is an important step in database management and maintenance, and it is necessary to register the date and result of each inspection, and a patrol report may be needed at the same time.

This series aims to solve some common problems:

I don't know what to inspect.

I don't know how to get a convenient physical examination.

Too many machines are troublesome for physical examination.

SQL Server log information often reflects some of your system problems, then patrol traditional Chinese medicine timely check these system log errors and solve them in time, which is also the purpose of patrol inspection.

Error description:

1. File self-growth (Autogrow): both data files and log files will grow according to the set value when the file is full to ensure that it can continue to be written, and will be recorded in log when the file has a self-increment operation and the corresponding time is slow:

Autogrow of file 'templog' in database' tempdb' was cancelled by user or timed out after 10180 milliseconds. Use ALTER DATABASE to set a smaller FILEGROWTH value for this file or to explicitly set a new file size.

Note: the common reason for this problem is that the growth set is too large, or the percentage growth due to large files (default 10%, it is recommended to use a fixed increment value)

2.Login failed: login failed. Please check whether the password is configured correctly. If public network access is provided, check to see if it has been violently cracked. Whether the account is disabled on the database and so on.

3.Operating system error: operation error, this kind of problem generally needs to be paid attention to and solved in time.

Example: Extend Disk Backup: failure on backup device'd:\ autoback\ backup_2016_10_02_062001_0859543.bak'. Operating system error 112 (insufficient disk space.) .

4. I requests O: this kind of problem is mainly manifested by the slow response speed of disk IO. See disk pressure analysis for slow response solutions.
