Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
Editor to share with you how to use solaris tape equipment, I believe most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article, let's learn about it!
Tapes are mainly used to store data offline and are usually used for backup.
When a new tape device is connected to the system and discovered (ok. Boor-r), this tape device is ready to use. Unlike disks, tape devices do not need to be formatted (format), volume identification (label), and so on.
Address and logical device name of the tape device
-
Disk device SCSI address (Target ID) Primary logical device name append logical device name
-
First tape device 4 / dev/rmt/0 / dev/rmt/0l
/ dev/rmt/0m
/ dev/rmt/0h
/ dev/rmt/0u
Second tape device 5 / dev/rmt/1 / dev/rmt/1l
/ dev/rmt/1m
/ dev/rmt/1h
/ dev/rmt/1u
-
(the SCSI address can be the only address on the bus)
Additional parameters indicate the tape density
L-low
M-medium
H-high
U-ultra
To add a tape drive
1. Shut down the system
2. Check whether the SCSI address of the tape is set correctly.
By default, the destination address of the tape drive is 4. If you have more than one tape, set the second tape drive correctly so that its SCSI address does not conflict with the current address.
3. Install tape equipment
4. Open the system and all peripherals (ok. Boot-r)
Displays the status of a tape device
Put the tape in the tape drive and:
# mt-f / dev/rmt/0 status
If you have more than one tape device, the device is: / dev/rmt/1, / dev/rmt/2...
You may see the following message:
Quantum DLT7000 tape drive:
Sense key (0x0) = nosense residual= 0 retries= 0
File no= 0 block no= 0
Sense key (0x0) = nosense means that your system can access the tape normally.
Sense key (0x6) = unit attention indicates that the device may have been reset or has just been powered on
/ dev/rmt/0: no tape loaded or drive offline this message indicates that the tape cannot be accessed
No such file or directory if you have this message, your system will not be able to communicate with your tape device. Check to see if the tape drive is powered on, and whether the connection is normal, or do it again: ok. Boot-r
Rewinding of magnetic tape
# mt-f / dev/rmt/0 rewind
Commands related to reading and writing data on magnetic tapes
It mainly includes five commands:
Cpio, dd, ufsdump, ufsrestore, tar
Command: cpio
Cpio is actually: copy in/out, which reads the file to be copied from standard input and writes it to standard output. This command is common, but redefines standard input and output. You can use this command when you need to use more than one tape.
1. Copy the directory / work and all subdirectories to tape / dev/rmt/0
# cd / work
# ls-R | cpio-ocB > / dev/rmt/0
2. Copy the files from the tape back to the / work directory
# cd / work
# cpio-icBd?
Available commands are:
Ls [arg]-list directory
Cd arg-change directory
Pwd-print current directory
Add [arg]-add 'arg' to list of files to be extracted
Delete [arg]-delete 'arg' from list of files to be extracted
Extract-extract requested files
Setmodes-setmodes of requested directories
Quit-immediately exit program
What-list dump header information
Verbose-toggle verbose flag (useful with''ls'')
Help or'?-print this list
IF no 'arg' is supplied, the current directory is used
Ufsrestore > ls
4lib/ dict mail openwin spool
5bin games man/ preserve src
Adm include/ net pub tmp
Use the command: add to add files and directories to the file list
Ufsrestore > add mail man
Now, expand these files from the tape and they will be released to your current working directory:
Ufsrestore > extract
When the files you need have been extended, you can exit ufsrestore.
Ufsrestore > Q
Command: tar
A tarfile is usually a tape, but it can be any file. If the total amount of data exceeds one tape, you need to use a different tape command, because the tar command cannot span multiple volumes.
1. The following example shows that if you copy data from a hard disk to a tape
# tar cvf / dev/rmt/0 / work
Parameters:
L c-create a tar file (in this case, write to tape)
L v-displays information about each file it copies (detailed mode)
L f-specifies the source device name, in this case / dev/rmt/0
2. The following example shows how to copy a file from a tape to a hard disk
# cd / tmp
# tar xvf / dev/rmt/0
L x-indicates extending the file from the tar file
