In the flagship product 8T at the end of 2020, one plus introduced a series of new OxygenOS 11 always on display (AOD) options (this OEM is for Android 11). Now, in the new "stable" update, one of the products, Canvas, can be used directly by 8 and 8 Pro phones. The company also resolved serious errors in previous versions of the software.

One plus recently succumbed to public demand and promised to implement the AOD option in its customized version of Android oxygen system (OOS). The results include some creative ways to display some content on the phone's screen, one of which is Canvas, which in Canvas, when AOD is turned on, generates a wired form in which the user locks the screen to replace it.

This and other features are available for the first time on OEM's latest flagship update one plus 8T. However, Canvas has now entered the latest "stable" update for early high-end devices 8 and 8 Pro.

Unfortunately, however, this feature cannot be used as an AOD, but can only be displayed as an environment (activated when the device is picked up). The update also includes frame stability and adaptive brightness optimization, as well as an Android security patch for October 2020, although it's actually November.

There is also other bad news for users of these phones. The "beta" channel (OTA update stream has update or experimental features compared to "stable" phones) risks losing all data on the device because the update is pushed to the latest stable update (OOS 11.0.1.1) rather than the OOS Open Beta 3.

The only way to prevent this data loss is to keep the phone off. However, OEM has posted a link to APK that can be installed on such devices through recovery. This solution should prevent data loss when starting the problematic 8 or 8 Pro again.
