I wrote a stored procedure with a cursor in it, and then iterated through the cursor. According to the result of the traversal, I update the value of another table. This is the general situation.

The problem is that Illegal mix of collations (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) error is reported on update.

The collate of tables and fields is utf8_unicode_ci, but that of server is utf8_general_ci, which cannot be changed!

There is no way but to convert in a stored procedure!

Solution: convert the comparison equation to a string, such as "CONVERT (variable USING utf8) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci"
