As we all know, there are many distributions of Linux, such as Ubuntu and Mint, and many people always compare them when choosing the Linux version. Which is better? What's the difference?

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, and the core of Ubuntu is Debian. If you are using Mint or Ubuntu, you are actually using Debian to some extent.

Ubuntu first entered the Linux field in 2004 because Ubuntu is based on Debian and the package format is .deb and is updated every six months.

Linux Mint is much younger than Ubuntu because it is based on this version. First entered the field of Linux in 2006, based on Ubuntu KDE iteration, updated every six months.

They are built exactly the same, but there is a big change between the two. Mint looks more like windo, while Ubuntu is more familiar to Mac OS X users.

Ubuntu uses a so-called Unity UI, with a pedestal on the left that contains basic application icons, Firefox for browsing and Libre Office for productivity.

Mint has an interface called Cinnamon, which is similar to Windows, with the taskbar at the bottom and a start menu similar to Microsoft OS.

In terms of performance, Ubuntu is not much different from Mint. Mint looks faster for everyday use, but it certainly feels faster on old hardware, while Ubuntu doesn't seem to be.

In terms of cost, both Ubuntu and Mint are free. Mint is positioned as a community-driven project that depends on users and sponsors, while Ubuntu is a commercial company that can be downloaded, installed and used free of charge.
