At present, lidar sensors on the market are based on diffuse objects (such as white paper) with a reflectivity of 90%. If a laser ranging radar claimed to have more than 10 meters, the detection rate of dark objects is only a few meters, it will inevitably lead to problems in robot positioning and mapping, thus affecting the positioning and navigation in the later stage. Therefore, it is particularly important whether the lidar can detect dark objects.

Nowadays, the detection ability of dark objects is also regarded as the key direction of lidar sensor research. after years of technological research and development and breakthroughs, in recent years, domestic Silan technology lidar products can also achieve a detection distance of more than 10 meters for black objects with a reflectivity of only less than 10%. Under normal circumstances, a lidar claimed to have more than 10 meters can effectively detect dark objects of at least 6 meters. And Silan's lidar can detect it effectively even if it is less than 10 meters.

Anti-jamming ability of ambient light of lidar

In addition to the detection ability of dark objects, it is also easy to be affected by ambient light in practical work, such as direct sunlight outside the window and indoor artificial lighting, which will affect the lidar sensor. It is easy to lead to the noise of the lidar, at the same time, it may also lead to the shortening of the effective measuring range of the radar or the inability to measure the distance at all. Therefore, it is necessary to have better processing algorithm and optical adjustment to distinguish between ambient light and laser signal.

Limited to the principle, the impact on lidar using triangulation principle is more serious, but this is not the case for RPLIDAR lidar of Silan Technology. Silan Technology has attached great importance to the anti-jamming ability of ambient light since the first generation of RPLIDAR A1. At present, its third generation lidar RPLDIAR A3 has been able to support both enhanced and outdoor modes, in enhanced mode. At the same time, it is more stable in detecting black and white, long-distance and strong light direct objects.
