If you consider high availability and multiple deployments, SQL HA will be confused. If you add NetScaler, then.

Indeed, objectively speaking, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop products are deeply integrated with Microsoft Active Directory, so from the product architecture design, HA and other aspects are very dependent on Microsoft's AD and SQL services. As a result, the deployment of a highly available stable environment that conforms to Citrix approval is still a bit of a threshold for many engineers who come into contact with Citrix.

Of course, if this set of environment can be built well, Citrix's transport protocol, delivery mode and management system have obvious advantages in virtual desktops and virtual applications.

So how can the deployment and installation part of the preorder be simplified? For this reason, Citrix Nanjing R & D Center (currently second only to R & D centers outside the United States and India (mainly NS) in the Citrix system) has developed a set of customized tools for accelerating user deployment in China: Citrix Quick Deployment Toolkits.

Quick Deployment Toolkits (QDT for short) is based on XenApp/XenDesktop 7.6 LTSR (ask me why I only support LTSR. Look at the update speed of CR, my brother really can't catch up! )

Important things are said three times, only 7.6 LTSR is supported, only 7.6 LTSR is supported, and only 7.6 LTSR is supported.

# QDT has been tested for 7.6 LTSR CU2,CU3 when it was developed, and the CU4 just released has not been tested yet, but there is no problem in theory.

The system supports Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 7. There is no problem with Windows 10 testing, so remember to choose the appropriate version, but considering the compatibility of 7.6 LTSR itself, it is not recommended to deploy Windows 10 VDA.

Create a dedicated AD account for subsequent QDT installation, and create a dedicated SQL account to facilitate the installation of SQL

QDT can only be run on Server systems, and Client OS is not supported, that is, Windows 7 and 10.

The main functional objectives of QDT when defining product features:

Not limited by the Hypervisor platform. Considering that the Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop product itself does not have clear restrictions on the underlying Hypervisor, as long as it is on the Hypervisor officially approved by Citrix, the relevant deployment operations can be completed based on Windows Server and Client virtual machines.

A variety of deployment methods, including stand-alone, dual-machine, full-component high availability, SQL Mirroring and so on, are defined to facilitate different users to choose different deployment modes according to their own needs.

A certain amount of optimization has been done for VDA. As I said in a previous article, VDA is an image delivered to users, and it is not entirely applicable to users without a certain degree of customization and optimization. So in QDT, based on our experience, we have made some related services and registry changes to meet the most basic requirements.

Since all machines need to add domains, in order to facilitate operation, a psh script is provided to complete the operation of adding domains and adding accounts to Local Admin with one click.

QDT is actually very easy to use, but the preparation of the pre-order is still indispensable:

A healthy Microsoft domain environment and domain controller

A set of Hypervisor environment (either XenServer,vSphere,Hyper-V,Nutanix), with sufficient computing, storage and memory resources.

Prepare a set of Windows Server and Windows 7 operating systems with added domains as needed

Windows Server currently supports only Windows Server 2012 R2 version

The Windows7 system must be updated to the latest patch using Windows Update, or it may run abnormally. (for reasons, please see my preface article, http://kaiqian.blog.51cto.com/236001/1944955)

Make sure that the default Administrator account in Windows 7 is enabled and the password is set.

All hosts need to run the accompanying psh script (this script must be run, otherwise it will cause subsequent QDT runs to fail), join the domain environment, and the hostname has been modified as needed.

Prepare the following installation media and store them in an accessible shared directory

After completing these preparations, you can start the installation and operation of QDT.

The whole interface is very simple and intuitive. The selection of the first page includes installation account, installation media address, etc., other installation packages are fixed, and curing treatment has been done here.

Enter host address names such as DDC/SF on the second page. Note here that the nouns entered here are those hosts that preorder Windows, and make sure that the names have been matched.

# here primary and secondary represent the meaning of the first and second stations. The StoreFront name can be the same as the DDC name, which means that the StoreFront host and the DDC host are on the same machine.

The third page is to set up the database

Finally, there is a deployment summary, as a summary of information.

If there is no problem is to deploy the installation, if all goes well, about 90 minutes to complete all the installation work. There is also a relevant day output during the operation to let you know what went wrong.

This completes the deployment of the environment. After completing the deployment of the environment, you need to do the following actions:

Import lic on the first DDC. If the lic name you purchased from Citrix does not match the first DDC, install a separate LIC server.

Create a new Host Connection on DDC to facilitate subsequent batch preparation of desktops.

Create an A Name on DNS for the Group of StoreFront to do Round Robin or use three-party LB to do load balancing.

Finally, provide the download address of Quick Deployment toolkits.
