Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

Editor to share with you the reasons why there is only one jump in the implementation of tracert commands in dos, I believe most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference. I hope you will gain a lot after reading this article. Let's learn about it together.

All the time, when I execute the Tracert command on my computer DOS at home, I only see an one-hop return result, which makes me very confused. I thought it was the telecom operator's problem, so I didn't find out what the real reason was.

C:\ Documents and Settings\ Administrator > tracert www.baidu.com

Tracing route to www.a.shifen.com [220.181.111.148]

Over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 45 ms 46ms 46ms 220.181.111.148

Trace complete.

The problem is that the router itself does not parse the tracert packet

I came across an article today, talking about this problem. It was only after reading the article that I learned that it was the router problem. The router I used before is TP-LINK TL-R402M. I learned from the e-mails sent by TP-LINK technical support personnel to netizens that the TL-R402M router itself does not parse tracert packets, so the hop count in the middle can not be seen.

I have replaced the TL-R402M with a wireless router in the last two months. The model is TP-LINK TL-WR841N.

When I take a look at tracert, I can actually see the tracert process.

C:\ Documents and Settings\ Administrator > tracert www.baidu.com

7 47 ms 51 ms 46 ms 220.181.16.62

9 54 ms 48 ms 47 ms 220.181.17.150

11 47 ms 48 ms 48 ms 220.181.111.148

Trace complete.

I went into the management background of the router and found that the router's "diagnostic tool" had its own ping and tracert detection tools.

Using online tracert tool to diagnose

If your router Tracert still has only one hop, and you also want to use Tracert, you can dial up the Internet directly through ADSL, so you can see Tracert packets, but switching back and forth requires unplugging the network cable, which is troublesome. It is estimated that many people do not like this operation.

In fact, there are many online tracert tools on the Internet, such as the online tracert tools of Kaka Network, which we can use to help us diagnose, which is very convenient.

A little knowledge:

What problems can tracert solve?

Webmasters often use it to detect IP line problems and to determine the path taken by IP datagrams to access targets.

You can use the tracert command to determine where packets stop on the network. In the following example, the default gateway determines that the 192.168.10.99 host does not have a valid path. This may be a problem with the router configuration, or the 192.168.10.0 network does not exist (the wrong IP address).

C:\ > tracert 192.168.10.99

Tracing route to 192.168.10.99 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 10.0.0.1 reports:Destination net unreachable.

Trace complete.

Tracert command line options

The Tracert command supports several options, as shown in the following table.

Tracert [- d] [- h maximum_hops] [- j host-list] [- w timeout] target_name

Option description-d specifies that IP addresses are not resolved to host names. -h maximum_hops specifies the number of hops to trace routes to a host called target_name. -j host-list specifies the list of router interfaces in the path taken by the Tracert utility packet. -w timeout waits for the number of milliseconds specified by timeout for each reply. The name or IP address of the target_name target host.

When we cannot access the destination device over the network, the network administrator needs to determine what went wrong. The problem occurs not only in the final destination device, but also in the intermediate router that forwards the packet.

Route detection based on recording routing options through tracert is a very good way to detect which transit routers a packet passes through from source to destination.
