Switch password cracking:

Essence: when the switch looks up the name of the configuration file during startup, it cannot find the file with the corresponding file name (this file is: config.text)

Cracking steps:

1. Power up the device and keep pressing the mode key all the time, and the device enters the switch:

Mode.

2. Enter the flash_ init command in switch: mode

3. Find, change, and verify that the profile name has been modified to another name

Switch: dir

Switch: rename {source-file} {destination-file}

For example: rename flash: config.text flash:111

Switch: dir / / verify that the file name has been changed successfully

4. Restart the device: switch: boot / / restart the device in the romm mode of the switch

You can change the switch password.

5. Save the configuration

Router password cracking:

The core of cracking the router password is to modify the configuration register. The default value is 0x2102, which means that during the startup process of the device, it is necessary to find and load the startup configuration file-startup-config. In order to achieve password cracking, the value of the register needs to be changed to 0x2142, in order to skip the step of "find and load configuration file" during startup.

Cracking steps:

Power up the device and keep pressing the key combination: ctrl + break, and the device will enter romm mode (security mode similar to PC) and change the configuration register value to 0x2142 and restart the device

Romm1 > confreg 0x2142 / / modify the configuration register

Romm2 > Omax r 0x2142 / / modify the configuration register

Romm3 >? / the help command is still supported in romm mode -?

Romm4 > reset / / restart the device in romm mode

After the device is rebooted, enter the "system dialog configuration" mode, select-no, and then enter "user mode" to change the router password.

Note:

The startup configuration file (startup- config) is a command that exists in nvram to view files stored on network devices:

Dir all- filesystem

Delete the file:

Delete flash:\ xxxxxxx.bin / / Delete a specific file under a specific path

When deleting a startup configuration file, you typically use:

Erase nvram: / / erase all files in nvram
