Today, mobile phone flash memory is getting more and more attention, eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1 are no longer strange words. Flash memory, called flash memory in English, is an electronic permanent memory, which is different from magnetic storage disks and laser-recorded CDs. It exists in the form of chips, so the biggest advantage is that the size is very small, for mobile phones, USB flash drives and other portable devices and memory, flash memory is the best choice, while the performance is good, the read and write speed is much faster than other permanent memory, and then the fastest consumer-grade memory SSD is also based on flash memory technology. For mobile phones, flash memory is sometimes referred to as ROM, the Chinese scientific name for read-only memory.

Hongwang Semiconductor has said before that there are mainly two types of flash memory for mobile products on the market: eMMC and UFS. The full name of eMMC is "embedded Multi Media Card," that is, embedded multimedia memory card, which is generally embedded in mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets. eMMC is a NAND Flash chip and control chip packaged together, in order to meet the storage hardware has high capacity, high stability and high read and write speed at the same time, more in line with the application appearance of thin and compact development trend. Mobile phone, tablet and box manufacturers only need to purchase Hongwang semiconductor eMMC chips and put them into new machines without dealing with other complicated NAND Flash compatibility and management issues, which can reduce the market cycle and R & D costs and accelerate the speed of product innovation.

The full name of UFS is Universal Flash Storage, which is actually launched to replace EMMC. UFS series flash memory is currently the highest specification for UFS2.1, continuous read and write speed can actually reach more than 1G, and UFS2.1 flash memory working mode is different from eMMC, it can achieve while reading and writing, to achieve the highest efficiency, but due to the high cost, generally used in high-end machines.

So eMMC uses F2FS, can you get the same performance as UFS? Here are some test data for you, eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1 two flash memory, Ext4, F2FS two file systems different combinations. As you can see, F2FS does have higher performance than Ext4, even allowing eMMC 5.1 to outperform UFS 2.1 in random write performance.

However, UFS 2.1 is still far ahead in terms of sustained read and write speed. USF 2.1, in conjunction with F2FS, achieved very good test results, even ten times better at random writing than UFS 2.1 with Ext 4. Whether it is eMMC or UFS, after switching to F2FS, there is a significant improvement, while UFS switching to F2FS has a greater improvement and more perfect performance.

Can we say that F2FS can optimize eMMC into UFS? This should be seen separately from different aspects. eMMC with F2FS does rival Ext4's UFS in random read and write performance. This performance is very important for the App opening speed. Some eMMC Android phones using F2FS are not inferior to competing models using UFS in terms of App opening speed. However, the physical bottleneck of eMMC is that it cannot be completed by F2FS_eMMC continues to read and write slowly, and it is half-duplex. Each channel can only read or write data at the same time, and cannot read and write simultaneously. In complex application environments, eMMC will still be a bottleneck. Therefore, UFS with F2FS is the perfect performance solution.

Choosing a high quality brand is a guarantee. Acer Semiconductor's eMMC uses a unified MMC standard interface to package NAND Flash and its control chip in a BGA chip, which greatly meets the user's high performance and high reliability storage requirements. eMMC from Hongwang Semiconductor has the characteristics of high efficiency, high speed, high compatibility, high bandwidth and continuous stability.

The size of 11.5×13.0×1.0mm can be applied to products of different specifications; the reading and writing speed is fast, the maximum reading speed of eMMC5.1 is 136MB/s, and the writing speed is 80MB/s; the capacity range is wide, up to 128GB; it can meet the storage requirements in various harsh environments. The operating temperature of consumer grade is-25 ° C ~70°C, and that of industrial grade is-40 ° C ~85°C.
