After nearly a year of waiting, Microsoft has finally released a preview version of Exchange2019. Let's share with you what new features this preview version brings.

Note: the preview version of Exchange 2019 is released now, not the official version (RTM), so please do not install the preview version in the production environment of the enterprise.

In the preview version of Exchange 2019, there are three main features: security, performance, and user experience.

Security: Exchange2019 supports installation in the core version of Window server (Core), but it must be the core board of Windows server 2016 or Windows 2019. Of course, it can also be installed in the GUI version of Windows Server 2016 or 2019.

Performance: Exchange 2019 Preview supports up to 48-core CPU and up to 256 GB of memory, which is a boon for large enterprises because they no longer need multiple Exchange to balance server performance. The second aspect is the use of Bing technology to redesign Exchange's search function to make it faster and provide more accurate results. The third point is that although SSD is very fast and Exchange online basically uses SSD, Exchange 2019 preview now supports SATA storage.

User experience: for Exchange administrators, the most common user is the calendar, which plays an important role in our daily work. The Exchange2019 preview brings "Do Not Forward" and simplified calendar sharing, allowing users to share calendars from Office365 to local users.

In addition to the above three features, another one is: the UM role of Exchange is no longer available in 2019, that is, starting from Exchange 2019, there will be no language mail for Exchange. If you have voicemail integrated with Exchange in your current organizational environment, you need to look for alternatives before upgrading to Exchange 2019 preview. Such as upgrading to Skype for business server 2019 or Office 365to use cloud mailbox.

Remind again: what is released now is the preview version of Exchange 2019, not the official version (RTM), so you must not install the preview version in the production environment of the enterprise.
