Download the Nvidia VIB package, then upload it to ESXi and view it using SSH

Note: ESXi enters maintenance mode first

Enter esxcli software vib install-v / NVIDIAXXXXXX

Enter nvidia-smi after installation to check the status of the video card. If the installation is completed in the following figure, restart ESXi.

Use vCenter to manage ESXi. In the ESXi drawing, set it to the following figure. After the setting is completed, it is recommended to restart ESXi, and the graphics card can be assigned.

The virtual machine needs to be shut down to add PCI shared devices. Select the model and reserve all the memory.

After adding the PCI sharing device, you will not be able to carry out vMotion and snapshots, nor can you enter the system from Console, so you can only rely on remote Desktop or VNC, so open the system remote Desktop before adding the graphics card.

After installing the NVIDIA driver, you can look up the video card model in the device manager, and you can also check it through dxdiag.

Note: here are some common commands when installing the video card driver

Quoted from https://www.onlylucky.cn/archives/33

Enter maintenance mode: vim-cmd hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

Exit maintenance mode: vim-cmd hostsvc/maintenance_mode_exit

Modify GPU graphics mode

Install the video card driver: esxcli software vib install-v directory/NVIDIA (video card driver directory)

Update the video card driver: esxcli software vib update-v directory/NVIDIA (video card driver directory)

View the video card process: vmkload_mod-l | grep nvidia

Check the video card driver: esxcli software vib list | grep NVIDIA

Uninstall the video driver: esxcli software vib remove-vibname= driver name or esxcli software vib remove-n driver name

The following provides an easy way to quickly interpret GPU patterns. In the server virtualization layer, we execute the following command to check the current mode of the GPU card.

[root@xsm60 ~] # lspci-n | grep 10de

0000:04:00.0 Class 0300: 10de:13f2 [vmgfx6]

0000:05:00.0 Class 0300: 10de:13f2 [vmgfx7]

10de represents this device from NVIDIA.

0300: Graphics-represents the graphic mode

0302: Compute-indicates that it is in computing mode and needs to be modified to graphic mode through gpumodeswitch
