Venus Optics released the old frog 85mm fplash 5.62x ultra-macro APO lens, which is said to be the smallest 2x macro lens of all full-frame cameras. It applies to Nikon Z, Canon RF, Sony E and Leica M bayonet.

Qiming Xingchen said that the old frog 85mm fhand 5.62x Ultra Macro APO is designed for full-frame non-reflective cameras and is the most compact 2x macro lens on the market. It weighs only 259 grams (9.12 ounces) and is 3.18 inches long and 2.08 inches wide. The company says the APO design allows the lens to take pictures with minimal chromatic aberration.

The old frog 85mm aims to create a "burden-free macro experience", abandoning the clunky macro lenses that are usually available without sacrificing image quality. To this end, Venus Optics does limit the speed of the lens, although some people have recently called for this method.

In an opinion published in late November, PetaPixel writer Alan Adler (Alan Adler) advised manufacturers to focus on making slower, longer, lighter macro lenses. Although the shot of the old frog 85mm fhand 5.6 is not long, the old frog seems to meet most of his requirements.

Venus Optics says the lens can focus from infinity to 2x magnification and has a minimum focus distance of 6.31in. At 2x magnification, small objects that are usually difficult to see can capture a considerable amount of detail, while Venus optics makes the lens small and light, which means it is more flexible and easy to use in all shooting situations.

The old frog 85mm famp 5.62x ultra-macro APO consists of 9 groups of 13 lenses, of which 3 are ultra-low dispersion lenses. Venus Optics said that these lenses were added to eliminate the dispersion in and out of focus. The lens uses a seven-blade aperture with a viewing angle of 28.55 degrees and a thread size of 46 mm for the front filter. The lens also has the function of internal focus, so the physical length of the lens will not change during use.
