In a Proxmox cluster, if the ISO file is stored locally, it can only be accessed by this node, and it will not be able to be installed by other nodes in the cluster. This is a bit troublesome, if you want to install the operating system for the virtual machine in each node, according to the usual way, each physical node has to upload the required operating system ISO image, which is not only time-consuming but also a waste of valuable storage resources. So, is there a good solution? Yes, nfs is a good tool. Plug-in nfs service not only solves the problem of capacity expansion, but also enables all virtual machines to share reads. Some people may question that the availability of this nfs is poor, and the feasibility of super-integration is indeed extremely high, so why bother?

We use nfs to store ISO images and back up virtual machines on a regular basis, which does not require high availability. Therefore, as an auxiliary means of super-converging high-availability private cloud, it is very economical and applicable. Because a separate physical nfs, as a supplement to a private cloud cluster, does not require a high configuration, as long as the disk capacity is large enough (unlike cluster computing nodes, high-performance disks are required).

Use NFS storage to share ISO image files. First, I create a new redhat7 as the server system for NFS.

I will not elaborate on how to install it. After entering the system where the installation is completed, turn off the firewall.

The Yum source is a very important setting in the linux system. If we are not clear about the dependency when installing the software without the yum source, we will not be able to install the software normally. So after we complete the configuration of the network card, we will immediately install the Yum source on the server. Mount the redhat system installation CD in the CD, because the Yum source is from the installation CD. First check the optical drive information, and then mount the optical drive under / mnt.

Set up and edit the Yum source

Check whether the Yum source has been built and the number of files

Then install the NFS storage file, yum install rpcbind nfs-utils-y

Installation succeeded

View NFS storage installation files

Create a shared directory

Edit storage shared objects, IP and permissions

Start the NFS service

View shared folder and IP address

To activate a new configuration

Please re-export the NFS directory and make sure the shared directory is active

Add NFS Stora

After adding, we can see the NFS storage.

In the NFS storage of each node, we can upload the ISO image, and select the file to upload.
