Monitoring principle of snmp: Oid and Mib Library

Data is obtained through snmp mainly through oid.

Use oid to obtain monitoring data:

Snmpwalk-v 2c-c password 192.168.50.172 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3 # 2c is the version of snmp used to monitor cpuload

Snmpwalk-v 2c-c password .1.3.6.1.2.1.2 # used to monitor network card information

Just because their oid is different, ".1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3" represents cpuload and ".1.3.6.1.2.1.2" represents network card information, which is not the case on a server. Oid is universal.

These two oid, the first ".1.3.6.1" is the same, and then carried on the branch, in fact, there are many branches, each branch represents a different content

MIB Library:

Generally speaking, oid is relatively difficult to remember, just like our ip address and domain name. People only remember the domain name ok, not the ip address. MIB plays such a role. The MIB library assigns a name to each oid, and we can also get data by name, as shown below.

The running result of snmpwalk-v 2c-c password 192.168.50.172 laLoad # is the same as using OID above.

The key monitoring contents of switches and routers are network port status and traffic. When monitoring network card traffic, you should use 64-bit to monitor, do not use 32-bit, 32-bit easy overflow, 64-bit monitoring is accurate.
