Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
Huawei has been making real wireless earplugs for years, inspired by Apple's AirPods (if that's the word) when it actually stops traffic. While we're waiting for Apple to upgrade its headphones (about a week or so), Huawei has launched a third-generation Freebuds, which is an interesting proposition-especially if you own an Android phone.
For Huawei, the IFA is usually the place to showcase its latest mobile chips, and this year is no exception. In addition to the latest mobile phone chips, the company also launched a new Kirin chip, the wearable headphone-centric A1. It is obviously the world's first Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth low-power 5.1 chip. Why would you care about using it in the next pair of wireless headphones? Well, the chip provides a dual-channel Bluetooth connection, which means a 30% reduction in latency and a 50% reduction in power consumption-which is very important for micro-audio products. Because of Huawei's chipset, this feature is only enabled on Huawei phones.
The FreeBuds 3, a large product of the new chip, replaces the in-ear design of most true wireless headphones and retains the earplug design in the earplugs, or AirPods. They will use a round portable bag and a black or white glossy color option, which will charge the headphones for up to 20 hours. The FreeBuds itself will run in your ear for four hours.
The killer feature is active noise reduction (ANC), which is rare in wireless headphone designs-Huawei claims to be the world's first open ANC headset. You could say that the company has worked hard to ensure that FreeBuds 3 can comfortably use open buds-they are more sophisticated than their predecessors. I think the biggest breakthrough is whether you can be tolerant and open. I prefer rubber buds because I appreciate the seal in my ear and how it blocks the noise. Others will (and do) disagree.
The elimination of ambient noise here should help to alleviate the situation. ANC not only provides environmental noise reduction of up to 15dB for each ear canal, Huawei also says that the tip of each headset can capture sound and vibration through a "bone sensor". This can detect when you speak and help you clarify and zoom in when you speak.
This is another idea for Huawei at this stage, but pairing sensors with specially designed microducts clearly gives full play to their magical power, and you can have a "clear" conversation when cycling at high speed. The other noteworthy specification is the 190ms delay, which exceeds Sony's incredible WF latency number-- two iterations of 1000 xm3 bud and Apple AirPods-- which is a very important thing for anyone who uses headphones to play games or watch videos.
Huawei's latest release is also wireless charging, and the company will soon be able to compare the charging speed with the AirPod. Obviously, its version can be quickly charged by 100%, and the wireless speed is increased by 50%.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of headphones comes from Huawei's supporting apps. Although I only see Chinese, it is equipped with an ANC dial, which is different from the slider on devices such as Sony headphone apps and modulates noise cancellation. This is not about the degree of noise elimination, but more about its elimination. Yes, I know I'm still a little confused.)
This means that users like me (and the comment editor Cherlynn Low in the video above) can calibrate noise elimination to achieve goals we don't want to hear, whether it's the hum of airplanes or the chatter of cafes. This is really cool. A Huawei spokesman said that some ANC may be found to be better than others, depending on how people's ear canals are formed. Although Cherlin found that the ANC on our demo device was effective, my suspicious ears (I had a series of tinnitus during IFA) could not detect any changes. However, once I can adjust the NC configuration file, I will start.
The sound quality seems to be comparable to Apple's AirPods, although the ANC (a little too weak for me) can help Huawei boost its lead. I've been testing Sony's real wireless headphones-and its own ANC---for several days, so I know the sound quality in this category is improving. Sony sounds good, but if you're looking for an open bud, Huawei's budding seems to be a strong competitor at this early stage. More tests are definitely needed.
Huawei Wang Jingshi said the FreeBuds 3 would be $199 cheaper than AirPods, but did not disclose the price. Perhaps, not surprisingly, there is no possibility of commenting on usability in the United States. In Europe and elsewhere, however, headphones will be launched next month.
