On the weekend morning, I got up and installed a set of 12.2 single-instance ASM database on the virtual machine. I was ready to give you a lecture. Because I first set up the 12.2 single-instance ASM environment, I encountered a small problem. 12.1 There are still differences between installation and 12.2, and there are several points that need to be understood. If you have a production environment, you will almost never encounter such a problem, because the memory is super large, and now 128 GB of memory is very common.

2. Error message

When installing GI, asmca all reported errors. At this time, we need to look at the log log. In the log, we found the following errors.

12.2 asmca fails with 'ORA-00845: MEMORY_TARGET not supported on this system'

3. View MOS

The reason is that the memory settings are small, because I am a virtualized environment, there is no configuration memory when installing, and less than 3G memory is used.

4. Solution

The 12.2 version requires 8 gigabytes of memory.

Increase system memory and restart the installation.
