CVM Elastic Compute Service (ECS) is a basic cloud computing service provided by Aliyun. Using CVM ECS is as convenient and efficient as using water, electricity, gas and other resources. You do not need to purchase hardware equipment in advance, but create the required number of CVM instances at any time according to your business needs, and in the process of use, expand the disk capacity and bandwidth of the CVM as your business expands. If you no longer need a CVM, you can easily release resources and save money.

ECS instance of CVM is a virtual computing environment, which contains the most basic server components such as CPU, memory, operating system, disk, bandwidth and so on. It is the operation entity provided by ECS to every user. An instance is equivalent to a virtual machine. You have administrator rights to the created instance and can log in to use and manage it at any time. You can perform basic operations on the instance, such as mounting a disk, creating a snapshot, creating a mirror, deploying an environment, and so on.

The following figure is a schematic diagram of an ECS example. You can configure your ECS instance through the CVM console, such as selecting instance specification, disk, operating system, bandwidth, security group and other resources.

Controllability: as a user of ECS, you have the permission of Super Admin, you can fully control the operating system of ECS instance, you can solve system problems by managing the terminal, and you can deploy environment, install software and other operations.

Ease of use: rich operating system and application software, which can easily deploy the same image with one click; quickly replicate the environment in multiple ECS instances and easily expand; and support custom images and disk snapshots to create ECS instances in batches.

API interface: use ECS API call management to access one or more ECS instances through the security group feature, making it more convenient for development and use.
