Because we want to simulate the production environment, we need to make a backup in advance to avoid irreversible situations before upgrading the forest and domain functional levels to deal with emergencies.

Open Server Manager and click Add Function on Function Interface;

Select Windows Server Backup feature;

Confirm the message and click Install;

Role installation successful;

Click on the Start menu to open the Backup tool from the Admin tool;

In the operation bar, select one-time backup;

Next step;

Select Custom Backup, next step;

In Add, check System Status. In Advanced Settings, select VSS for Full Backup.

Select Backup to Local Server;

Select disks for backup;

Confirm the information, click Backup after it is correct;

Wait for backup to complete;

Backup completed, click Close;

Open AD User and Computer, right click on all tasks, select Upgrade Domain Function Level;

Select Upgrade Domain Function Level to 2008 R2, click Upgrade;

(a) Determine;

Domain function level upgrade succeeded;

Then we open AD domain and trust relationship, right click to upgrade forest function level;

Select Upgrade to 2008 R2 and click OK;

Promotion success;

Since the synchronization information of the three domain controllers is inconsistent after rollback, we first use repadmin /options command to turn off replication between domain controllers.

Restart the server and press F8 to enter directory service recovery mode;

Enter the account password to enter the system;(here you need to enter the account and password of directory restoration mode);

Click the Start menu to open Windows Server Backup from Administration Tools;

In the right-hand column, select Restore;

Select this server, next step;

Select the backup date;

In Restore Options, select Restore System State, Next;

In selecting the system state restore location, we select Restore to original location and check the option of Authorize Restore;

Confirm the relevant information restored, click Restore after it is correct;

Restart the server according to the prompt;

After restart, the interface is as follows, press Enter key to enter the system, restore successfully;

If you have multiple domain controllers, you should do this on each domain controller, otherwise the state of the domain controller will be out of sync and become a separate domain controller.
